And the Award goes to...
Sunday night I got a glimpse of the Screen Actors Guild Awards. I always enjoyed watching awards shows because, let's be honest, their acceptance speeches are hilarious. They are actors and are beyond dramatical!
Well, last night, Heath Ledger won a SAG award for Best Supporting Actor. Some people were emotional. He even received a standing ovation. Honestly, I smiled a bit because I saw the movie he was nominated for, Batman's The Dark Knight. For a Comic movie, it was great and he played the joker extremely well. Though, I would not recommend younger children viewing it because of the violence.
A little later, the Lord showed me something. Heath Ledger died, yet he received a reward- one that he will never see or touch. Someone else accepted the award in his absense. I'm sure Heath worked extremely hard and put in some long hours to make sure the Joker was as gruesom as he was portrayed to be. But again, he never got to see the award- it's something he will never touch or feel. I pray he knew Christ as his Lord and Savior before he died.
Those of us with strong ambitions often desire to receive some sort of recognition for what we're doing. Those who sing would love a Grammy, just as those who write would love their books mainstream published and to land a million dollar contract with a distinguished publishing company. There's nothing wrong with being recognized for our hard work and dedication towards our craft. However, what if you never win an award? Will you feel inadequate or as if you've simply waisted your time? What if you only sell one book?
Here's what I've learned. God has given us amazing gifts that he'd love for us to use for His glory. What matters is that we're walking in obedience, because there is an unknown that we don't know about Heath Ledger. We don't know if he went on to Glory to see the Lord or to eternal damnation. But, when we serve the Lord with all of our hearts and use the gifts and talents he's given us, we will then recieve an eternal reward in Heaven! And, God promises to fulfill all of our needs even while we are on earth. So, we win both ways.
Friends, please don't allow discouragement to hinder you from using what God has given you. Some industries are tough- granted they are- but, we are busy for a greater purpose. And, God does notice what we're doing. It doesn't matter what goes on around you- your eternal reward is with Him. Believe that, trust in that and find Joy in that!
Matthew 5:12a Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven...
I pray this entry has blessed you today!
